how do i stop others connecting to my wireless router netgear?

i have a wireless router Netgear WGR614 and i want to make sure that only those in my home are able to connect to it and also how do i check who else is using the router?

When a new computer attempts to connect to your network, do you need to type in a passphrase in order to connect? If not, anyone (neighbors) can connect to your network. To set up a passphrase, you need to log into your router’s device management console by going to 192.168.0.1 in your browser, and using username "admin" and password "password". From there you can enable a wireless security mode, and view a list of computers that have obtained an IP address from your router automatically.

To see who is on your network do this:

Windows Key + R > type ‘Cmd’ then hit Enter > in Cmd type ‘net view’ (without inverted commas) and hit enter.

This will show all users on the network.

To stop others from accessing your wireless router, set up a WEP or WPA key, which is basically a password to use your router.

Do this by going to http://192.168.1.1 in a web browser and configuring the settings of your router through there. The default username and password are both ‘admin’

    Good luck :)
