Problem connecting to Xbox Live through laptop?

I just got a new laptop running Windows Vista, and the laptop only has one ethernet port. When I tried to hook my laptop to my Xbox 360, the wireless internet on my computer ceased to work. Is it because of my one ethernet port or am I configuring settings wrong?

u have 2 bridge the connections together (look on youtube for how 2 do it) LOL
