problem connecting to the internet error 651?
I am trying to connect to my service provider after re-formatting the hard disk. I have done this in the past but i cant remember how i done it last time. Computrer has 3ghz processor Windows XP home and plenty of memory and graphics card spec ok. I am trying to connect through a ISDN line external modem through a USB 2 port on the actual computer. I have rang provider and seems passwords and phone line ok, i installed ISDN software like manual states and done a loop back test works ok cahnnel b1 & b2 work on utility software and device that has USB connection plugged into computer. I am not sure but what lights should be light up on other device that has direct connection to phone line no lights light up on b1 and b2. I haven’t changed any of the cables since re-formatting. Does anyone know this problem and how to fix this problem please help as its driving me crazy!

why pay your internet service provider for help and not use it? they are the only ones that can help you with that.

Have you tried create a new connection?
How about enabling and dissabling the connection, that sometimes work.
YOu could also enter 192.168.1.1 in your browser and see if you configure the modem. It all depends on the modem brand, but usually you should go into quick configuration and enter your username and password in there.
After that you need to commit and reboot.

call you provider… if you had a static ip address and your pc is trying to renew it your service provider need to trip a switch to let it renew your address..not even going into command will work… had the same thing happen and my provider has it set so if you try to renew it locks you out

Go into My computer > control panel > modems.
Check correct modem is installed. If not then remove modem > restart computer > re-install modem.
If still getting the same problem > go into control panel > networks > remove dial up adapter and TCP/IP > restart computer
Go back into control panel > re-install dial up adapter and TCP/IP.
Get latest modem drivers.
