Wireless internet network issues connecting to laptops?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

I have a Netgear Wireless Network Model MBR624GU, which uses my USB Modem for bipgond internet,
I can use the wireless for my laptop and multiple iphones and my xbox 360 via cable and it works good, but it has trouble connecting to two or more laptops, somtimes it just says limited connectivity for the second computer i connect, but sometimes they can connect together.

Any ideas?

I should not be an issue with bandwidth as you are unable to connect to the access point(your router) what it could be if you have many devices is that the DHCP pool is not large enough on your router.

Check out this link http://www.2000trainers.com/security/wireless-dhcp/ to read more on Dhcp. then log in to your router find something similar to network settings, in there there should be somthing similar to DHCP range or DHCP pool if this is low increase this to atleast the amount of devices you are connecting to your router. So if the range is 100 – 105 increase it to 100 – 1XX(number of network devices) that is including devices connected with a cable.

Also try to decrease the DHCP lease time, this should be on the same page as well, a setting like 180 minutes shoud suffice.

I just connected to some of my neighbors internet. Can they get my info?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

I connected to other peoples wireless internet for a like less than a minute. I didn’t go on the internet though. Is it possible for them to have gotten info on me when i connected to their wireless router?

Any and all packets going through a router can be "sniffed" as well as the MAC address of the machine connecting. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No.

How can remote connect to a computer but make it show what i am doing on the computer i have connected to?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

I want to be able to remotely connect to my home computer, but i want it to show what i am also doing on the screen on the computer i have connected to. I no that some ict departments in somne schools do this to manage computer.

Please help!

you can mess around with ip addresses and settings and setup a static network or TCP or what i have found a lot easier (especially of you are not familiar with advanced networking) is to use a free program for remote accessing called team viewer www.teamviewer.com have the computer you want to control download the instant support module and on the computer you will use to control it use the full version. The only downfall to this is you must have a user at the other end granting permission to use it where as if you set up the network connection for it once, you will not need permission again.

Trouble connecting with DSL wirelessly?

Posted on March 3rd, 2010 by admin

When wired, it works just fine. Wirelessly, it doesn’t work at all. I’m using AT&T Yahoo! DSL (with a 2WIRE base station). When trying to connect wirelessly, my computer says it has "a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet". No other computer around the house works wirelessly either. Help and tips appreciated. Thanks.

When you wire them, your local area connection would be enabled. You need to go to your connections and make sure that local area connection is disabled and Wireless Connection is enabled. Then it will automatically search for the signal and trigger it.

Also, just because you have a router, doesnt mean it will be wireless. Make sure you have a wireless router and make sure your computer also has WIFI capability or has a wireless adapter/card.

How do I connect a vcr with an insignia converter box?

Posted on March 3rd, 2010 by admin

I lost my manual and don’t know how to connect this converter box with my vcr to my tv. Can someone please describe how to do it? I want to be able to record tv shows and watch my recordings on my tv. Please be very specific and give a step by step answer. Thanks :)

Connect antenna to the input of the converter. Connect the converter output to the input of the VCR. Connect the VCR output to the TV input. VCR and TV will both be set to channel 3 and left there. You will change channels with the converter box.

If you want to schedule your VCR to record something, you will always set it to record channel 3, and will have to set the converter to the channel you want to record, making sure it doesn’t turn itself off before or during the recording.

My dad is having problems connecting to his dsl network at his office.?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

His normal procedure for connecting to the interent is doubleclicking his SBC DSL shortcut, clicking OK to his user name and password, then he’s connected. But I borrowed his laptop and connected it to my DSL line. I had to adjust a setting to Automatically find a IP address. And then I could connect. Did I have to adjust something so that he can connect now? Thanks.

He was using a static ip for work, if you changed it to automatically pull an address then it wipes those settings. Depending on the setup of the VPN it may be looking or only allowing that certain static ip to access the VPN. Hopefully you wrote the settings down or have the number for his DSL connection to call and find out what the IP settings were.
