My dad recently got a new computer. This one has Windows 7 so he used my computer to download the drivers to a cd and install on his computer. The thing is, he can’t seem to use his old router to connect to the internet.

He has a WN111v2 from Netgear and downloaded the latest driver he could find. We’ve plugged it into various USB ports and what not, but he can’t connect to the internet. And for reference, my friend can connect to the internet with his laptop so we know it’s a problem with the computer.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1258509.html

Google is your friend for this type of issue. Just put "wn111v2 windows7" in the google search box and pop up comes many sites with information.

Did you guys hear about that sixth grade teacher who writes "loser" on his student’s papers?
He said that it is his way of connecting with them, but I don’t think that writing names like that are a good idea, and that there are other ways to connect with students. Kids could really take that to heart, especially considering how young they are. Joking or not, I think that it’s a stupid and mean thing to do.

I heard about it. I can understand why the teacher thought that it would be a good way to connect with his students. However, kids can be very sensitive at that age. The teacher should be someone that students can trust, rather than someone who is just as cruel as their peers.

I have D-Link model WBR-1310 and an Acer Aspire laptop. My nephew set up the router, and when I click on the network, it says "Connected", but it also says No Internet access. When I open up my browser, it says Unable to Connect…(I’m using my Ethernet cable now). How can I get wireless Internet access using this router? The signal strength is excellent, but no Interent. Thanks for your help.

2 possibilities…you’re not getting an internet signal from your service provider or the router has an encryption key that you haven’t entered.
Since you can see that it is "connected", there is no encryption since it would not connect without the proper key. But since it is "connected", you know that your wireless router and wireless card in your laptop are working OK. Most likely, your router has not gotten a proper IP address from your service provider (Comcast, Verizon, etc.), so the router cannot "talk" to the modem.
Here’s what to do…remove power from both the modem and the router. Wait about a minute for everything to "forget" their settings. Then re-power the modem. Wait 2 minutes until it reacquires a signal from the provider. Now be sure that the router is physically connected to the modem with an ethernet cable (looks like a phone cord but has larger end pieces). There is only one hole for the ethernet cable on the modem, but there are 5 holes on the router. Make sure the cable goes into the proper hole on the router. It’s the one next to the 4 holes but is usually a little farther away and has some color surrounding it to make it look a little different. The ethernet cable MUST go into this seperate hole, not one of the four. With the cable properly connected, turn on power to the router. It should acquire the proper IP address form the modem automatically. Wait about 2 minutes. then use your computer’s wireless software (right click on the tray icon for your wireless) to see available wireless systems. Chose your system…not a neighbor’s…and click on connect.
You may have to go thru this sequence a couple of times to get a good IP address. Especially with Comcast.

make sure the usb ports work properly,,
then go and buy a usb wifi adapter that is supported by windows xp…

usually it is a good habit before you install a new OS like windows xp, to check if all the drivers needed for your laptop model are available.

Hi! Hope someone can help me out.

Ive recently signed up for ADSL2 & ordered a wireless modem. I recevied the modem yesterday. I can connect to the internet via my PC (Connection VIA USB) but have been unable to connect via a wireless connection on a laptop.

I have been able to make the connection to the router/modem but have not been able to comunicate?

The modems a netcomm NBPlus4W & the laptops an Acer aspire if that helps.

Any help would be muchly apreciated!

Thanks!
The wireless card was the default card in the laptop. Im just using windows to try and connect.

I had the same problem and so did my neighbor. The fixes were different for the two of us. For mine I called Tech support for the ISP (Verizon 800-567-6789) and they walked me through bridging the modem. Then I shut down everything, taking the power away from the Modem and the Router to make sure the booted from scratch, then started them in the following order: Modem (wait about 60 seconds until it is completely on), Router (wait about 30-40 seconds), then a computer.

For my neighbor it was similar except his Router needed to be accessed first (no changes were made to it) then the configuration was saved. After all of this everything was rebooted just as stated above. Verizon (his ISP also) walked me through this.

So my advice is if a reboot doesn’t fix it…Call Tech Support, it will be a Pain but they probably have dealt with this before.

Good Luck.

Today in the morning I could connect now mid afternoon I can’t connect. I can use the browswer no problem. I go through the wireless settings again when it goes to test the connection it fails at the playstation store so I can’t play online to play games

This is a worldwide issue. You’re not the only one. You should have an Error 8001050.
This error is caused by the month of February having only 28 days this year, which causes problems with the PS3 internal clock.

DO NOT format your system. Sony is currently working on the issue and recommends users not to use their system for at least 24 hours.

A failure to load your trophy set may cause your trophies for that game to be deleted. DO NOT put games in your system. It is uncertain whether deleted trophies will become available again in the future.
The situation is presumed to to become normal in a day or two, but either Sony reverting the network to a previous state or by the clock returning to normal in March.
