Do you think that this teacher was out of line?
Did you guys hear about that sixth grade teacher who writes "loser" on his student’s papers?
He said that it is his way of connecting with them, but I don’t think that writing names like that are a good idea, and that there are other ways to connect with students. Kids could really take that to heart, especially considering how young they are. Joking or not, I think that it’s a stupid and mean thing to do.
I heard about it. I can understand why the teacher thought that it would be a good way to connect with his students. However, kids can be very sensitive at that age. The teacher should be someone that students can trust, rather than someone who is just as cruel as their peers.
I heard about that, seems pretty cruel to me.

As far as that teacher, who’s the loser now? The kids will only believe what they were taught to believe; if the parents did their job and taught the kids what self esteem is, there should be nothing to worry about.

The teacher was way out of line.
Instead of using destructive criticism.
He could have used positive re-enforcement.
That teacher should be fired.

You see–that’s the problem with public schools nowadays…99% of the teachers in public schools just suck at doing their job!
Private school is the way to go. I kind of wish I had been able to go to a private school–I actually would’ve learned stuff at one!

It probably wasn’t the smartest way of trying to connect with his students, considering that some kids are alot more sensitive than others. Calling children names is never a good idea because the long lasting impact on their self esteem could really cause long term damage.

I asked that question days ago…all of my answerers felt he was wrong, should be fired…and one guy wanted to carve that word into his forehead….I gave him "best answer"! What infuriates me is the teacher is a 12-year veteran, had picked on this girl before, at the beginning of the school year, the mom had already complained, and he singled out this child again.
I suspect that this girl is probably popular, and he has some residual issues from his childhood or something, or perhaps she is the spitting image of someone he hated as a kid, but HE is taking out HIS ISSUES on an innocent child, and he needs mental help and to BE FIRED–NOW!
