How to connect a Dell Inspiron 7500 to wifi?

I changed my OS from 2000 to XP service pack 2 and now it wont connect. I have one of those linkskys things that you put in it, and it worked beofre but it wont work now and my house is wified,

make sure the usb ports work properly,,
then go and buy a usb wifi adapter that is supported by windows xp…

usually it is a good habit before you install a new OS like windows xp, to check if all the drivers needed for your laptop model are available.
