Im having problems connecting online with my second computer with my befsx41 linksys router?
I connected everything correctly this is a wired router btw…i reset both modems turn off both computers did all the trouble shooting and i still get no connection to my other computer…my main computer is a custom gaming rig with windows xp-pro and the other is a dell with vista home basic 32…they say the connection should be automatic but when i connect it says that its connected but no connection to the internet…anyone know what may be the problem this is driving me nuts!
Have you verified that you are receiving a link? Two ways to check, verify that you are getting a blinking light on the port that you are plugging it into, and second is to review the settings inside of the Vista machine that states the physical wire is connected. Then after that is successful what are the settings on your Vista machine? DHCP or Manual for your network setup? If it is DHCP is it not receiving an IP address? If its manual change it to DHCP. There are many other settings to check in this regard. Have you tried another port? Possibly the port that the Windows XP machine is working off of?
