would a SpeedStream 5260 DSL Modem work for connecting my two computers to one internet conection?

No, like someone said you need a router. you can find one at any electronic store, it can be a d-link, netgear, or linksys. One important thing though, if your internet provider is AT&T purchage a 2Wire gateway router, which is basically better than any other thing that you can get. A router works by taking your one ip address that you pay for and giving each computer it’s own local ip address (wan vs lan)

No, You will have to have a router. I suggest a wireless N router.It has everything you need. You can have the wireless or you can use a ethernet cable, You might need a N wireless USB Adapter if your computer is a desktop that does not have a wireless card. I say the N because it is the best. I wouldn’t waist my money on anything else.
