Connecting smartphone to internet via laptop using wifi when laptop is connected to internet via dsl service?
Hi
Can i use internet on my smartphone (Nokia 5800) using its builtin wifi device by connecting it to my laptop wifi while my laptop is connected to internet via LAN connection.
If your laptop is using a hardline (i.e. Ethernet cable), maybe. But it’s complicated. Your laptop would also need a wifi adapter (may be built-in)
Basically, you have to
1) Install internet connection and sharing, so your PC would act as a router
2) Configure your Wifi as an ad-hoc network with the Smartphone
3) Configure the ICS so the traffic from the Smartphone gets routed to the hardline (i.e. share the connection)
No
Both your phone and your laptop are client devices in a wifi network. They will only connect to a master device, like a router. They will not connect to each other.
