Probelm with connecting computer using a wireless router, but not using a wireless connection?

Ok… We have cable internet. We connect the modem to the wireless router, and run the ethernet connection cables to each of our computers off the router… only 2 now, but possibly 3 soon. I understand that im not using wirless connection… but when i connect through the router… i dont connect at all… ive ran all the setups, and read all the windows help stuff.. i just dont get it. When i connect directly to the modem it works fine. I assume that theres only one person whos picking up on our wireless router signal… the nextdoor neighbor. Any ideas of what is going on?

yep know exactly whats happening had the very same problem myself If you want add hotdog197405 on yahoo messenger I will walk you through how to fix it to detailed to type it all out right here thx Roger

  2. If I knew who your ISP is it would help. In good ole Bellsouth, we have to change the route ip address. If you go with the default, 192.168.1.1, Bellsouth is using it. So, you have to make your router IP Base Address something else, say, oh, 192.169.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. That could solve your problems.

  3. even if someone else is picking up on the signal (i.e. your neighbor) you should still be able to use it. The signal should not be limited to one user, which is why for instance multiple laptop users can pick up on the same signal at a library, wifi area, e.t.c.
I am not familiar with wireless routing on regular computers as i have never used this, but I am assuming from what you are saying that you have to have a ethernet cable as you do with a laptop on a local area network.
