connecting two computers to broadband Internet using access point and wirelss card?
to connect two computers(in two different closely locations)on to one broad band Internet connection using a wireless card and access point, NB: the Access point and the Wireless card transmit/receive Fcy has to be the same ? please direct me to hook up this set up,thank you very much for helping me, I am a Novice.plgperera.
your access point will plug into your modem via Ethernet cable, it should start working immediately. you will then have to install the wireless cards into the computer if they aren’t already in there. If you installed the wireless cards yourself then there’s a good chance that you will need to install drivers so if the cards came with disk run that on the computer. also the cards will have to be compatible with the access point, usually defined by "wireless a, b or g" or "802.11b", "802.11a" or "802.11g", the boxes that wireless cards and the access point came in should have this written on them or else the actually product should have it somewhere on there. the access point will probably be compatible with 2 or all 3 of the frequencies. when all this is done the computer should search for wireless networks when the cards are activated (if not go into the control panel and find the "network and sharing centre" or something else to do with the networks if that’s not there). when you connect your wireless may ask for a password or key depending on your security settings. hope i helped, i went through the whole process because i didn’t know where you were up to.

This method actually uses just a broadband card. You can see if it’ll work for you:
It’s a little involving but if you’re up to the task it can be done. A quick rundown of what you’ll be doing is this:
1. Share the mobile broadband connection via the ethernet port
2. Plug an ethernet cable into a wireless router
3. Start soaking up the net wirelessly
I’ll cover the #1. I got a feeling you can dance your way through #2 & #3.
The steps are different though depending on if you’re using Vista or XP. If you’re using a Mac, you’re outside my territory.
Grab a cup of mocha. You just might need it. Here we go.
Here’s the Vista steps:
1. Start Button
2. Control Panel
3. (search for Network) click on Network and Sharing Center
4. Under tasks, click on Manage Network Connections (not to be confused with manage wireless networks)
5. Locate your broadband adapter’s connection and right click it
6. Click Properties
7. Click on the Sharing Tab
8. Check the box "Allow other users to connect through this computer’s connection"
9. There should be a drop down box that lets you select the Local Area Connection as the way you wish to share. Click ok twice (until boxes are gone)
10. Once you done that, if you have the broadband card connected, you may have to close the connection and re-open it for it to take effect.
11. Next you should be able to plug the ethernet cord into the router and start sharing.
The steps for XP are fundamentally similar.
If this works….send me a gazillion dollars to my doorstep for typing this much.
Hope this helps. (As an alternative you can share it via the local area connection and plug a cable into a wireless router to broadcast the connection)
