connecting belkin wireless router to laptop on virgin broadband?

looking for tips, the problem I’m having is that i get so far (where it checks the routers connection) and then says we need to reboot your pc, install will continue after reboot. So when you reboot it doesn’t continue. I can’t get past this. I have to start again and have the same problem again and again. i did have it working before but had to wipe my laptop and start again. We’re on virgin broadband and its so frustrating having to sit where its plugged in.

belkin routers are really bad. I had one and i had to take it back to the shop and get a refund. sorry i cant help you.

  1. You need to remove the hardware, its in the start menu, remove ur router and then install it again

  2. You shouldn’t have to install anything on your laptop to make it work. The only thing you’d need is the drivers for your ethernet card.

You can see if the drivers are installed by looking in Device Manager (run ‘devmgmt.msc’ for the run prompt).

Any problems will show up with question marks next to them.

You can also try getting online by connecting straight to the broadband modem and bypassing the router.

  3. im on virgin too and have the netgear wireless router.
im experienced in all this anyway.
do not use the installation cd rubbish they give you.
first plug in your router throught the blue ethernet wire. when everything is plugged in an lights on (using the cable),
the type in the www box the following
    192.168.1.1
when this done you will get to a welcome to virgin page and you can get your wireless router key code. any more problems just email me
