What to do if a firewall or loopback connection are blocking a program from connecting to the internet?

Posted on February 19th, 2010 by admin

I was trying to download Limewire, but it says it is unable to start due to a firewall program or loopback connections. I have Limewire as an expection on my firewall and I have no idea what a loopback connection is. Please help me!!!!

Well, if you have the exception allowed in Windows, check your router.

If you have a loopback connectionI(which you shouldnt)pull it off.
More then likely your firewall/router is blocking it (hardware).
if not, then the broadband provider can be

Can i use my Linksys Access Point to make a wireless connection without connecting it to a router?

No. You will need to connect the AP to a Switch or Router in order to have it work properly.

An AP can extend the network’s capabilities to include wireless, but the AP doesnt have the "brain" to route data packets correctly. In essence, with an AP you are only extending virtual wires to an existing Router or Switch.

You are better off getting a WIRELESS ROUTER (such as the W54g) which can be used as a router, an AP or a Bridge device, however you configure it.

Best of luck to you!

How can I prevent other from connecting from my wireless internet connection?

Posted on February 15th, 2010 by admin

At home a I have a modem router, but I don’t want other to connect from it.

Hey this is pretty easy these other people dont know what there talking about ok first

1.) open a new internet window then typ in 192.169.1.1
then press enter

2. a window will appear that will say log in for a user name and pass for the user put admin and for the pass put admin or 123456 or guest something along that line

3.) then go to the butten that says security or password then it will say put a password on your net work then put a pass and save the changes then your done

and if you connect to one of your neibors network and they dont have a password on it you can log into it from the way i showed you and put a pass on there network so they cant get on pretty cool email me at Administrator@immortalgames.com if you have any problems

help connecting a wired internet connection to my toshiba laptop?

Posted on February 10th, 2010 by admin

i tried to to connect with direct connection but it says "error 769: the specified destination is not reachable
it looks like it reads the internet speed but the webpages are unable to open it makes me work offline

Presumably you tried to use an Ethernet cable between an Ethernet port on the computer and one on a router or modem. Hardware-wise, that should work. But there is a fair amount of software configuration that needs to be done also. You can either crib the data from some machine which works properly on the modem, or call your internet service provider for the details.

Internet connection slow after connecting directly to computer?

Posted on February 8th, 2010 by admin

I have a cable internet connection. And I used to have a router in the loop and was connected wirelessly and the internet speed was great. My sister had to take the router to her house, and now my computer is directly connected to the modem, and the internet speed is terribly slow. Could there be some kind of registry, driver, or network configuration problem that is causing this?

Here’s a quick fix:

Power off the modem, wait at least 2 minutes (This means unplug it from the wall).
Plug the modem back in after the 2 minutes (This will force a handshake between the provider and you computer).

Please feel free to contact me on messenger if you need more help.

Problem connecting to the wireless interent connection at college.?

Posted on February 6th, 2010 by admin

I’ve been unable to connect to the wireless internet connection at my college/university. I’m running on windows vista and have set up the VPN connection, but am unable to connect to the internet. I am able to connect to the wireless network. I have tried turning off my firewall and still nothing happene. I have been told by the IT department at my uni that I am unable to connect to the wireless internet connection at uni on windows vista, but was wondering if anyone knows a way around it?

Thanks in advance

If IT told you the VPN won’t work with Vista…they’re probably right.

You could downgrade your OS to XP.

How can i tell if someone is connecting to my wireless connection?

Posted on February 1st, 2010 by admin

At certain times when neighbours are in , my wireless internet runs very slow,

Rather than trying to find out, why not just set a password for it?

Also, you could change the name of the network to something like "F**k off, this isn’t for you" so they see it when they try to connect :)

Does having a long internet cable (the one connecting to the phone line) affect my net connection?

Posted on January 25th, 2010 by admin

I always get disconnected when I’m playing online games. Does having a long internet cable (the thin one, connecting from my router to the phone lines) have something to do with the connection? It’s 50ft. Or does it sometimes cut the continuous net connection?

Not really.. Best thing is check if your cables are properly plugged, in my case before, it got loose so I had to ask them to replace the cable. Check too if there’s something putting pressure on the cables, like a chair on top of it O_O

It doesnt work? Contact your ISP

Posted on January 23rd, 2010 by admin

On my Nokia E63, I can connect to my wireless internet with the WLAN connection, but Im not sure if it will cost me anything on my plan. Someone please help me :) thankyou.

Connection to a WLAN won’t cost you anything, since it is just a LAN network without wires. When connected you will have acces to all resources over the WLAN
