How do I connect to a wireless printer via a wireless router?

Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin

I have a wireless printer, a wireless laptop and a desktop that is connected by USB to a wireless router. My laptop connects wirelessly to the printer but Im wondering if it is possible to connect the desktop wirelessly to the printer via the router? I have tried setting up a network to no avail. The desktop has XP and the laptop has Vista.
I have tried connecting the printer via the traditional methods but that doesnt work. I have tried connecting it via the USB but that doesnt work. When I click print and I send it to the printer, it counts up to 100% as normal but nothing happens.

just add it as a local printer via a tcp/ip port
print out the ip of the printer and put that ip into the add printer wizard.
that should do the trick
good luck!!!!!

pls Rate thx

How can remote connect to a computer but make it show what i am doing on the computer i have connected to?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

I want to be able to remotely connect to my home computer, but i want it to show what i am also doing on the screen on the computer i have connected to. I no that some ict departments in somne schools do this to manage computer.

Please help!

you can mess around with ip addresses and settings and setup a static network or TCP or what i have found a lot easier (especially of you are not familiar with advanced networking) is to use a free program for remote accessing called team viewer www.teamviewer.com have the computer you want to control download the instant support module and on the computer you will use to control it use the full version. The only downfall to this is you must have a user at the other end granting permission to use it where as if you set up the network connection for it once, you will not need permission again.

How can I connect a wired printer to my wireless network using a wireless router?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

I have a wireless network: a wireless modem connected to a DSL line that connects wirelessly to my computer. My printer has a wired ethernet port. I have a spare router with wireless capability that I could connect to this printer. Without wiring my printer to my modem (they are in different rooms), can I use this router to get my wireless printer to talk to my computer – either via the modem or directly to my wireless card in my compter – whatever is possible. Thanks!

If you have a network printer you can get adapters that will convert a wired ethernet port in to a wireless solution. You can also get a wireless print server to connect the printer across the network with no PC needed.

Using the advice above, keep in mind the PC that you want to share the printer from must be on at all times or no one will be able to print.

How do I connect to the internet, it says limited or no connectivity with a excellent signal strength?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

The internet in our house is connected to 2wire, at&t. I have one desktop directly connected to the internet/ethernet cord, another desktop used wireless, and a laptop used wireless. And now I have a laptop through my school by gateway and uses Windows XP, when I try to connect it says limited or no connectivity and when I click fix, it says unable to renew IP address. Please Help!

Try going to

Start > control panel > network and internet connections > network connections > (right-click) wireless connection or click look to the side and click view available wireless networks > wireless networks

in the data encryption go to "wep" and below put your wep key in the open blanks.
then ckick the Authentication tab and make sure the "enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network.

then ok.
and ok again on the wireless network connection properties.

How do you connect a computer to a Windows Server?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

After a server has been set up how do you connect clients to that server over a LAN? Do you have to install extra software? Is a LAN the best way to connect the systems or should I use some other method of connecting computers to the server?

First you must be an administrator on the domain to which you wish to connect the pc. You must also have your user name and password.

Go to the client pc, click on start, then right click on my computer and click on properties. This generates the System Properties window. Go to the Computer Name tab in System Properties. Near the bottom of this window is the choice "to rename this computer or join a domain click here". Click there and follow the directions. You must enter the domain name when prompted, enter an administrator user name and password and you should be successful.

The above assumes you have a Windows pc. It cannot be XP Home. There is no other software needed. I have not connected MAC pcs to the server and I believe, but do not know for sure, that you must have some software loaded for these to work.

The clients must be on your LAN first. If they are not in the same location and on the same LAN you have a lot of other work to do but that is beyond the scope here.

Once the computer is on the LAN, make sure you have the user name and password of the intended user loaded in Active Directory.

Can I connect a wireless xbox 360 controller to my laptop without buying the wireless game reciever?

Posted on February 21st, 2010 by admin

I don’t want to buy anything, I just want to connect and play. Since I only have wireless controllers, I connected my controller to the laptop using my play and charge kit and the computer installed the proper drivers automatically but my computer after updating drivers it stopped recognizing it and can’t seem to connect with it or let me use it? Anyone know whats going on?

Nope. The Play and Charge can only transfer power so it will only charge the controller. You need to receiver to pick up the controller’s signal. There’s no way around it.

How do I connect my laptop to a printer connected to my router?

Posted on February 19th, 2010 by admin

I just got a new wireless Toshiba laptop, and I need to print some things, however my printer is not a wireless printer, but supports networking. My printer is connected to my router, and I would like to know how I can connect to the printer through the router. I tried putting in the IP Address of the printer but it didn’t work. Also I am using Windows Vista.

Add a new printer, "local" through the TCPIP port. Enter the IPaddress of the printer and follow instructions on the screen…for the type of printer and driver just use GENERIC and GENERIC TEXT ONLY

After that, try to ping the IPaddress of the printer to see if you can ping it. If you can, then you should be able to print. If you cant, then I dont know what else to tell you.

Good Luck
