Would this make the internet on my Mac faster than just having the Airport Extreme Base Station pick up the wireless siginal from the DSL router?
It might be faster.
The Airport Extreme Base Station follows the 802.11n protocol. If the DSL router is 802.11g or less, it is theoretically slower.
